Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi there,
I'm very much so an IIS Newbie and having some troubles
understanding where to go from default installation.

I have a windows 2000 server. I've installed the IIS
server but have absolutely no idea of where to go now.

I've had a look at some of the help info and looked up
some internet sites but nothing really gives me the basic
baby steps from here on.

I would like to enable a directory on my servers D:\drive
to be redirected as a URL from whatever user wants to
connect to that site, from the server and from another
workstation.

How can I achieve this with the default IIS 5.0 setup in
place, keeping in mind that I may be one of the dummest
IIS people you may speak with?

Thanks in advance,
Fred.

Now put content out. Either static HTML files you create or use ASP.

You need a basic HTML or web publishing guide then.

In your site, right click and create a New Virtual Directory. Enter
the path to your folder. Enable directory browsing. Though I suspect
that's not entirely what you really want, it gets you what you've
asked for.
