when the visitors browser makes a request to your site for the image you
could substitute some JS instead of the image but its problematic, its
best just to return a substitute image.

you cant write to a site hotlinking you. you don't have the permissions
and the visitors browser is the one requesting an image from your site,
not the hotlinking site.
