FMM ... Any 'host' that has the time to 'bid' on obtaining one client, isn't
spending their resources where they count - on the servers and existing
client's helpdesk.
A good on-line 'presentation' and an offer to amend standard packages for
special requirements will always get my $$ and use.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: HostBidder.com - Where Hosting Companies Bid For Your Busi.. |

I see no way to prevent that from happening. Happened to webhostingtalk.com

When I was considering signing up with Pair Networks back in April 1998,
their automated response message to queries from prospects said, among
other things, "Please note that although we value new business, we must
give priority to our current customers."
This is the way to do business, and is one of the things that convinced
me to go with them.

Interesting. So if I understand correctly, it is sometimes better for a
hosting company to offer less service to prospects in order to show them
that they value their customers?
Or put another way:
There are two hosts to choose from. Host A has enought support personnel
and sales personnel to answer all questions very quickly and thouroughly.
Host B has enough support personnel to answer all customer inquiries
quickly and thouroughtly but only some sales staff available to answer
prospects questions. Prospect actually feels Host B is better because they
are told they put most of their resources to support customers.
Interesting...

Interesting indeed; but for all that, they answered my questions quickly
enough anyway

There's a big difference between answering a prospect's questions and
spending time 'bidding' on an unknown on a blind form! Sorry you didn't
grasp that in my message.
I had all my inquiries answered - but did my own searching.
Your 'more' company "C" would have small support staff and a large sales
farce to spend hours sending out emails to trolls, blind form 'applicants'
who've never even 'seen' their offerings. (spelling intentional!)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: HostBidder.com - Where Hosting Companies Bid For Your Busi.. |

Oh..I agree that there were more options and Company C is the worst, but I
was thinking from a psychological perspective.
I was thinking/wondering/analysing if there was a psychological benefit to
delaying replies, or offering limited replies, or offering lesser level of
service to prospects and then including a statement saying that
preferential and more complete support/answers are given to customers.
Would the prospect actually weigh this as a positive versus a company that
goes all out on both customer support and prospect support.
P.S. Tina (Affordable Host)...I liked your idea of including a coupon code
in the sig so I stole your idea.
