Post subject: Help needed with Fusion generated site
Archived from groups: alt>www>webmaster (more info?)

I submitted my site to http://validator.w3.org/ and get all sorts of errors
dealing with attributes even when i check the attributes box on
http://validator.w3.org/. The site we are building and yes it is templated
and very much a work in progress right now, is www.masterkleen.com We still
have lots of work on the pages and the site map ect. but everthing here
should be passing muster i thought.

I get an Icon an message on IE6 in the lower left corner indicating errors
on the page. this happened right after we added the counter script which
was generated by the Host for our site. I may have the script added
incorrectly and need help on that as well.

We are using Fusion 7 to generate the site (at least initially) because it
was included in our hosting package and it seemed better to use that the web
templater that is also offered.

As a newbie to today's web design I admit that I have not a clue about what
s good or not but for now we just want to get a start on the site and then
improve it as we can.

The site design seems fairly straight-forward so perhaps a hack with a text
editor will fix things up for you. There's no real need to use a page/site
builder app for this type of site and as you have seen it is increadably
difficult to make the damn things use simple markup.

Dump the counter - it adds no benefit to your visitors and is therefore a
waste of resources. Use your host service provided log files to look at
some numbers that may or may not have some relation to the number of
visitors your site receives.

Netobjects have their own newsgroups where you'll find a very friendly bunch
of people who will give you help and encouragement.

To access the newsgroups go to
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.netobjects.com/support/html/ngnf7.html" target="_blank">http://www.netobjects.com/support/html/ngnf7.html</a> and follow the various
links.

Probably about 95% of all the websites on the www wouldn't validate at
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://validator.w3.org/" target="_blank">http://validator.w3.org/</a> but that doesn't mean they don't work on people's
monitors.

The most popular browser is very forgiving of *improper* mark-up so I
wouldn't worry too much about it as long as your friends can see it on
their monitors, 99% of the world's population will be able to see it too.

As above ... don't get your knickers in a twist if it doesn't validate.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

If everyone had monitors and could use them that would be alright.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
