What should I learn after HTML, for authoring webpages? I reall feel out
of the loop regarding webpage authoring-- should I now learn CSS, DHTML,
XHTML, XML??? I am an online college teacher and want to get up to date
on the current language for webpage authoring but not sure what that is?

Spake Beowulf unto thee:

How long have you been "out of the loop"? If it's really been a while,
then perhaps you should revisit the HTML standards and make sure that the
HTML you do know is up to the current levels.

CSS, definitely. XHTML, maybe. XML, probably not, but it might come in
useful at some point. DHTML... save your energy Wink

HTML 4.01, or XHTML 1.0, are the current recommendations that are worth
any effort. CSS is, as you probably know, used for suggesting visual
appeal and is also worth learning.

Beowulf,

CSS will be your biggest gain in the shortest time. You'll rethink your HTML
after learning it, and your webpage file sizes will be smaller, yet you'll
change the look of a whole site in 2 lines of code.
