Hello,

I would also like to add to what is already mentioned here, that it might
not be wise to run a "non-corporate" email server. You will not be able to
send to all other domains, and for example hotmail will restrict this even
more in the near future. This is because of all spam that is delivered from
"home machines".

So, be sure that you configure everything correctly, this includes (but is
not limited) to reverse DNS lookup, do not run it on a dynamic IP, etc.
There are alot(!) more to think of than just setting up an email server, to
be able to send and receive emails flawlessly.

Hi Jonathan!

Thank you very much for the reply! How about for IIS5?

Thanks again,

Hi,

IIS 5 by itself doesn't include a POP3 server since it was really only meant
to send email from web-based forms (like sites where you sign up and then
they email you your password), so you will need to use Exchange or another
mail server

No POP server in IIS5/Windows 2000/XP. You need a third party mail
server, a popular one is Mercury Mail.

I would agree and email services are so cheap that it makes sense to just
contract it out. do you own hosting, if you wish, but not email.

IIS 5.0 does not include a POP3 server. Try <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.mailenable.com" target="_blank">www.mailenable.com</a>

Cheers
