There was a recent article in the Economist (economist.com) saying that
Google Adsense has made small-time Internet pusblishing economical..
for organizations too small to have an ad salesperson, you can have
google handle the ad side of things.

Personally I think you're better off trying to sell ads yourself, also full
banner ads / images are a better service to your advertisers as it helps
establish their brand via the image. It takes time though, calling around
and developing the relationships.

The jury is out.....Or rather the trials have begun!

Interesting that Google disallow publishers to reveal the CTR they
achieve, I wonder why they need to hide it?

Google has strange policies about many things. The article "Google vs.
Evil" <http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.01/google.html> outlines
their policy-making methods.

Let people know when you actually get paid. I know people that shot to
$300 in 2 weeks and were canned.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Little danger of that for us. So far, the results have been very
disappointing, with very few pages able to display relevant adverts
(despite being indexed by Google, already), mainly the non-payable
community adverts.

I am forbiden by the terms to disclose the CTR we are realising, so I
shall not. But I can disclose that our trials (which shall last
perhaps a week) do not change my (well documented) opinion on 99.9% of
'affiliate' schemes!

Good info Matt, thanks. Did you manage to get away with the tax ID thing.
UK business, Canadian host etc? As I read it, you are exempt. Me with an
American host, may be liable.

If it isn't picking anything up besides the charity stuff, good time to
can it.

I can guess what you are getting. Sad Though I might be a 1/2% higher.
