There is/was a physical presence in Europe though with a Google
datacentre in Zurich. I don't know if that is still up and running but I
see that Google IP address 216.239.55.100 still routes through Zurich.

Google has numerous local "bandwidth pipes" provided by
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.akamai.com" target="_blank">www.akamai.com</a> .

See what happens when it goes wrong.

Why do you associate Paypal with half-baked one -man ops?
Woulnt call Ebay a half baked one man op - they use Paypal, so does most of the
larger Internet sites.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Never bothered with google anyway. Rekon they are overated. Better IMHO to list
on the smaller, target specific SEs anyway.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I don't... I just mention PayPal as an example of something one-man ops
might use. I just meant that one-man e-commerce sites (eg. Freds Jewellery
Store) using "whatever" system, manage to cope with different currencies, so
why not Google?

Yes, in fact I would consider it a reasonable expectation for them to
handle whatever the currency is, of the domain they use, for example GBP for
google.co.uk, dollars for google.com, etc.

Not really. A site with 50,000 impressions/day and 2% clickthru would pay
more than the average wage, based on my experience.

What's your site URL?

I'm intregued to see what kind of website gets 50,000 per day and 2%
clickthru enough to make a living on?

That's "very busy" by my (and most others) standards!

(won't argue with the 2%)

The main one is <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.float.com.au" target="_blank">www.float.com.au</a> , which is intnded for IPOs but is get most
hits from stock exchange data downloads

There was a guy on a.w.w last year selling a porn site with 180,000 hits/day
for <$1000.
