I've been using Godaddy as a domain registrar for a long time, all the
while using some associates to run my mail and DNS services.
I sort of like the idea, though, of using Godaddy's free DNS controls,
and the mail is much cheaper than what I get right now, and would also
give me more hands-on, I assume.
Anyone have experience using godaddy for these other domain services,
and the pros and cons therein?
Thanks. >> Stay informed about: Godaddy for DNS and Email? |

Read the TOS carefully.
It says they will terminate your domain name based solely on the content of
your site.
Regardless of the fact that you are not using them for hosting.
IOW, if they do not approve of the content, your domain name is erased. >> Stay informed about: Godaddy for DNS and Email? |

That's not ideal, but also not a problem for the web sites I'd be using
it for: mostly small businesses, fairly bland stuff.
My main question is, are they reliable for Email and DNS? Or has anyone
experienced annoyingly protracted downtimes or e-mail bugs for these
services?

They suk.
IMHO, you're always better off registering at a pure Registrar who doesn't
care jack with whether or not you host with them.
You can arrange reliable hosting for cheap now-a-days where YOU control your
DNS, mail..etc.

Tell the good people that your "content" was an underage naked girl, Bullis.

GoDaddy.com isn't the only domain registrar to have this type of practice.
Remember this case?
http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/0,39020369,2130313,00.htm
Then again, if you have a site with legal content that won't offend anyone
("offend", meaning somewhere along the lines of rotten.com or illegal porn),
you don't have anything to worry about.

I can't tell you about Go Daddy, but I can recommend
Registernames.com. I've been using their DNS and email services for
some time. I've been very pleased.

Underage by whose laws?
So what? The photo was not child pornography as represented to godaddy.
That complaint also alleged she was 10 years old. It also stated she was
naked., which she was not. Merely topless.
Being in a public place, with no sexual contact, or other lewd details
shown, there was no pornography.
As has been pointed out to you a thousand times, it is legal even in the USA
for persons to appear "in the public eye" naked, or topless. There are also
dozens of publicly owned beaches in the USA which are "topless" for females
of any age.
The courts have ruled many times that being naked is not pornographic.
Want me to repost the photo on my bulletin board again?

The legal definition of pornography is irrelevant. You agreed to a
contract that gave GoDaddy the right to take your domain if they decided
that your use of it was morally objectionable.
It was your decision to push the envelope that cost you the domain. Stop
whining about it and be thankful that there are other ISP's that allow
you to feed your various perversions.

Not to suppor RB but godaddys policy is a bit much. In effect, they are the
ones to decide if your site is ok or not - a bit like GM saying we are
taking your car back because you let people see you sitting in in naked.
I also tend to think that RB is a bit overated as a P*. In spite of all the
complaints against him he does seem to be a target without foundation. All
the links and innuendo throw a lot of mud but little substance. If he had
done only a little of what is claimed surely some law enforcement somewhere
would have nailed him by now? IMO it is time to stop feeding the frenzy - it
is becomming ho-hum. >> Stay informed about: Godaddy for DNS and Email? |

Though the policy is overly broad, there is no evidence that they have
acted in an arbitrary manner--IMO certainly not in this case.

He is as much to blame for the "frenzy" as his detractors. He hangs out
in kook groups, he taunts them and does battle with them.
His writings are sick and perverted and indicate a sexual obsession with
underage girls. He posted a link in this group to a page with a
bare-chested underage girl. So what if his activities are protected
speech? Others have been shunned by this group when their speech was
legal, but still morally objectionable. Should we roll out the red
carpet for him and defend his right to be a pervert as long as he keeps
it legal, when we won't do that for racists and other objectionable
types?
He has managed to take advantage of webmasters natural concern for free
speech issues to further his agenda. It's gotten to the point that no
one can say anything negative about him without someone else complaining
that he is being treated unfairly. There is nothing unfair about
pointing out that he is a despicable human being.

The girl was pubescent, Pedophile.

Godaddy saw it otherwise, Bullis, and nuked your domain. The opinion of a
Pedophile didn't amount to anything with them.

Irrelevant. That doesn't excuse your disgusting behavior.

Put all your kiddie pr0n on your k00k-site, St00pid, for all I care. *You*
keep saying it's legal, so why don't you just test that theory.

Yes, all criminals must already be locked up by now. Bullis moved to a town
with two police and nine deputies and little net savvy. Law enforcement
barely has the resources to go after violent criminals. How do you explain
the Florida child murderer getting repeatedly sentenced to probation? I
guess he wasn't guilty enough to deserve prison until he killed.
