Post subject: IIS General
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I'm new to IIS 5 and was wondering if anybody can help me
with setting up multiple web sites using one IP address
properly. I know you use host header names and then use
DNS server to list the names, but I'm not sure how to
carry out these proedures properly so that everything
works. I've tried it several times unsuccessfully and
it's getting very frustrating, I think for me the problem
might be more setting up DNS, I'm not sure about setting
up zones and adding hosts to them properly, and getting
the IP address corretly set up on my server with the
router in place. I'm trying this on my network at home
and have a hi-speed cable connection to the internet
routed through a Linksys router to my server running Win
2K server. I've tried searching the Microsoft site, but I
find so much information but never seem to find the right
information and it's mind boggeling.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Rich,

You have several options...

1. Use a unique IP address and port
2. Use a single IP and a unique port
3. Use a single IP and port with unique host headers - This option will not support the use of SSL. If you want SSL see options 1 and 2.

Thank You. I hope this information is helpful.
