Thanks for the reply!
I'm getting no errors either in the browser window or eventlog. When I
try to install the extensions on a 2003 Web Edition server, I just get a
warning about security of UNC shares but no files or directories are
created. This only happens when using Web Edition as the webserver,
using standard edition as file server and webserver works fine.
I've read in a sharepoint technet article (I can't find the URL just
now), that the installation of FP extensions onto a UNC backed webserver
requires 2003 std, ent or dc editions, no mention of web edition.
If it's true that web edition has this problem (and it's not just me
missing something) then is seems Microsoft have intentionally crippled
that edition.
Anyway, the pointy haired bosses have ok'd the purchase of standard
edition servers so this isn't a big problem anymore. But if you do know
of a way round that limitation it'd be good to know.
Thanks,
James
