Archived from groups: alt>freewebhosting (more info?)

Hi

I have almost finished my web site, which is quite large, and I am
aiming for it to generate revenue.

However, I do not have any money to pay for a web host. Can anybody
help me?

I need a host that has the following features:

100 Mb Web Space with No Banner Ads or Popups
Up to 3 Email accounts (POP & Web Based)
PHP v4.32+ Scripting
SSI (Server Side Includes)
FTP Support
MySQL Database Support
Mailing Lists and Autoresponders
Raw Server Log Access
Password Protected Folders
Custom Error Page Support
Domain Support

I know this is a lot to ask for for free, but I am serious about my
web site and am willing to promote/recommend your web hosting company
in return for the service you provide me.

I was originally considering http://www.U69.us, but they do not allow
advertisements (only personal/non-commercial sites).

Thanks

So how will you promote it, and what will the site have as any
content (curious as to how it should generate income). If you
have products to sell, you'll need cash to buy them before any
buyer can get one from you to give you a small/large profit Smile<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I very much doubt you'll find a free host that will meet your high demands
Smile lol

ValueHost.co.uk for example have hosting that meets your requirments
(afaik) and they cost a little over a fiver per month. Paying quarterly
(£20.00) - convert to your currency but you get the idea how cheap hosting
is for a full service. It would be worth the tiny investment seemingly
you've gone to so much trouble in creating a decent website.

Hope this helps.

You want to find a free host without ad hosting your revenue generating
website with you gaining revenue while your host gain nothing.

So what if you really serious about your website.
You should at least offer an advertisement space for your host.
And you wish to have so much features.

Maybe you are lucky, but it is real hard to find someone host you free with
nothing in return.

I think the poster is willing to do something, since "am willing to
promote/recommend your web hosting company in return for the service"
is in there, but pop-ups and frames that some hosting firms might set
up can be a major pain (eg see some free .tk domains). I might be at
least willing to consider hosting, but with 100 MB of webspace I have
to wonder at how much traffic this site will generate and what it can
sell (how it can earn money) ? I have seen reseller deals costing a
few pounds a month that should be enough for the original poster both
to host his site and sell webspace to others for some income, without
this big website earning a penny for a month or two, but until it is
a bit clearer what the site is like (is any of it hosted now) I can
only look with some caution. Peter M.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Yes esp bandwidth issue. If the traffic drawn is valuable, it might be worth
for any host company to provide free hosting.

I am intending to make money through advertisements (using a service
such as ValueClick). As I said, http://www.u69.us had everything I
wanted - It just didn't allow commercial sites.

I am willing to advertise and recommend the host.

Thanks in anticipation!

Just I more thing - I only said 100MB as a minimum. If I did have
this, then I would consider placing some files at an alternative
location. Seeing as my site uses membership, it is likely that many
people would keep returing. So I could always expand into other ways
of earning later, like opening an online store.

Well web space is relatively cheap - I have set sites up with 750
and 2500 MB allowance, but (a) the traffic from your site would be
more significant, and (b) the content would also be important as it
is still unclear what you would have to attract members. What would
you have in the membership area ? I ask because many services have
a block on (1) software, (2) audio/video, and (3) porn, and you're
still not making it clear what your site has to attract members!!

You ask a lot of any hosting service in your list of "needs" but I
see no apparent willingness to hndle your site (when it has a lot
of members) as a commercial site, paying for hosting, and to be
very honest, if your site is popular, it can be a severe drain
on resources which won't be met, in my view, just by having some
adverts for the hosting firm. You do seem to be looking at this
as "something for nothing", and if you seem unwilling at some point
(eg based on webstat hit counts, or similar) to start paying for a
hosting service, I'm not sure many service would want your site!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

If your a profit site why don't you just pay the pitance for hosting. It
defys logic Smile lol
You can advertise all you want if you pay the pitance for hosting and it
your site is going to be popular you'd soon make the monthly pitance of
hosting costs back.
Any decent site should have a decent setup. I mean a fiver a month is
hardly costly.
