Post subject: Can I use Apache as a FTP server
Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

Hi,

I have to send very often files to my brother.
I installed Apache together wit PHP en MySQL because I'm trying to
understand how to work with this applications and therefore I need a
localhost.
But can I use Apache to enable my brother up- and download files fram my
computer with a FTP-client?
I've my own IP-adress and a ADSL-connection.

Is there a place where I can find information on this matter and is there
anyone who has experience?

Thnx,

Joop Stolk

You should use an FTP server. If you are using Windows try:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/" target="_blank">http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/</a> Oh, It's free.

Why with an FTP client ? he could do it with a regular browser !

Tell your brother to connect to <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://your.ip.add.ress/folder." target="_blank">http://your.ip.add.ress/folder.</a> Copy the
files you want to send him in the "folder" directory.
Password protect your folder with .htaccess if you do not want everybody to
have access
