Post subject: FQDM in intranet resources
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Here's an odd things that's always bothered me that I've never worked out.
I have some information on an IIS 6.0 server that's secured via ACL, and
using Integrated Windows Authentication on many of the pages. (In other
words, enable anonymous access is disabled).

If I reference the site as "http://intranet/page.htm" the pages
authenticate properly, no problem, from an page hosted on another web
server (non IIS in this case).

However, if I use the FQDM as "http://intranet.mydomain.dom/page.htm" the
browser prompts me to put in credentials.

Why does this happen? How could I make it work with the FQDM? We use a
Cisco VPN client and FQDMs seem to work better than short names.

Thanks!

EV

anyhow, you cannot pass credentials as it sees the address as an internet
one. you can either add the domain to the trusted sites list or enable basic
authentication, which will require user input

Hello,

that second name is not in the intranet zone. Please see:

Indeed. It's an often made typo by me while learning the Dvorak keyboard
layout.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
