I turned off Anonymous Authentication on a particular folder, have Basic and
Digest Authentication enabled. Also set the domain. Logging in using the
domain password/login works fine.... if you get it correct.
Question. If someone enters an incorrect login or password, after the third
try, all the user sees is:
Error: Access Denied.
Nothing else on the screen. I've looked through the standard error pages,
but this doesn't appear by itself.
First, where does this come from (within code?), and, how can I change it to
give users more instruction on why they may have gotten this error?
Thanks!!

You'll have to code that one on your own. If you have an account
lockout threshold, you may have even more issues, so the best time to
give them instructions is *before* they enter the account/password.

Thanks Jeff. Yes, they already have instructions. I'm dealing with a large
community of people (a University) that will be accessing this. From
students, staff, to faculty. So I need to provide as much info as possible
about tge login. Both before and after. The before is done, just need to do
the after.
No matter how much instructions is given, some still don't get it.
Do you know what file handles the displaying of that message?
