Post subject: IIS Encrypted Files
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi all,

I have this problem. running IIS 6 on win2k professional. I forgot the admin
passwd of the machine and used a program to recover it that boots from a:
drive and lets you change the password. I believe that it has somewhat
messed up with the encrypted files and thus IIS doent run. Whenever I try to
run the IIS I get this error : " The system cannot find the specified path".

Have checked the event viewer and it shows these errors.

I have removed IIS and tried reinstalling but all in vain.

Kindly help me what to do now.

Regards

-Saira

Hi,

IIS 5 in on Windows 2000. Depending on the utility you used, it may have
deleted and remade the Admin account. Doing that would leave all Encrypted
files unavailable if they were encrypted under Admin's account. Can you
still access the files?

You would know which files you encrypted better than I would Smile

What do you see when you open up the IIS Manager and look at the FTP
service?
