Post subject: Email Editor & Search
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I have XP Pro with Office 2000 installed. I have an
additional software program that requires the use of IIS.

I installed the IIS without any problems. When I ran the
DCOMCONFIG utility to assign users and permissions, I
developed two issues:

1. The ability to use MS Word as my email editor.

2. The "Search" button in my Start menu does not function
any longer.

I was able to trace it back to the introduction of the
DCOMCONFIG utility by using Restore points.

Has anyone run into this before, and, if so, know of a
fix/work-a-round?

Thanx,

Ernie

For IIS to work properly, dcomconfg is setup correctly out of the box. You will notice that IWAM and IUSR both have launch
permissions, and that dcom is enabled on the server. Other apps that may require dcomcnfg, should not interfere with IIS. What
changes were made to dcomcnfg?

Thank you. I hope this information is helpful.
