I have IIS 5 running a website with a simple dl page.

One link is to a Zip file.....no problem. You can click the link and
download just fine.

But, when I added a second link to a second file that happened to be an EXE
file, all I get from a browser is a 404 "File not found error"

If I change the file's extention to "zip" and try again, the browser finds
the file and launches the save file dialog.

What am I missing?

the 404 error sounds like you might have installed the iislockdown tool.
I'd check to see if you have any entries in the urlscan.log. If you need to
modify your lockdown settings, take a look at your urlscan.ini file.
