Which is better?

I ask because I have one sideline business online I do for money
but I have only done it here and there as I stumbled upon someone
needing the service.

I would like to focus on doing this more as it is needed, easy to do and
the money isn't bad.

However should I register a seperate domain just for this purpose based
on relevant keywords related to the subject or should I just go with
a subdomain on one of my other domains?

I have found a great .com available that matches relevant keywords
for it so that is already out of the way. I just want to know if, in terms
of SE positioning etc, it really matters if you have a full domain or
a subdomain.

Thoughts?

Domains are more professional than sub-domains. I, like the others, do not
take sub-domains seriously. Domains are dirt cheap these days and you can
get your site hosted for free at netfirms.com or doteasy.com (no banners).
It's the only way to go.

Tell us what it is. I've been searching for something to do online for
about four years now and haven't had any luck.

Domain names are so cheap, minus as well as get the domain. You'll just be
out a couple of bucks if it doesn't work out.

I would go for the full domain. If the site becomes popular it would be
better known under a domain name than a subdomain.

Okay 2 votes plus my thoughts that I should spring for the domain
even though it will be a small site and easy to put up since it will
focus on that one thing.

I have registered the domain but I won't be saying what it is until
I show up in the who is search :p

It is a rather good domain for the purpose IMO. Not the best
but then the best was already taken in the .com which didn't surprise
me in the least.

Separate domain is usually better unless it is clearly related to some other
business activity and/or personality. It depends on the focus.

There is some small SEO advantage to be gained by using domains containing
delimited keywords.

I would try a mixture of the 2 to get a better feeling for the other guy/girl.

Start of subdomainated with someone you're comfortable with, check the
equipment is high quality, soft leather, padded restraints and you can go a
long way. After several episodes your partner is more likely to let you
domainate completely, that's when the fun begins!

heidi,

From experience, I find SE's don't really pay attention and you might as
well go sub.

if you need an example, type:
links:pagina.nl

in google and find 150.000 links, mostly indexed from subs.

Try beat that paying for additional domains.

Really.... go subs!!
