I was an idiot and tried to renew my domain at the last possible minute. Ok
everyone yell at me and tell me what a jerk and lazy bum I am and that you
have no sympathy etc.
Hopefully that's out of the way. The domain expired yesterday. Since
yesterday morning I have been trying to get a hold of e7domains. No response
as of yet. The status of the domain says Registrar Hold. My site is now down
and I am having nervous fits. I do not even now how we got registered with
e7domains in the first place. I spoke with everyone at work and no one
transferred our domain there. I know for sure I didn't do it.
So here is my question. Judging from the information below, I should be able
to renew my domain name, correct? Isn't there some sort of grace period that
registrars have to allow?
Registrar of Record: TUCOWS, INC.
Record last updated on 21-Jun-2003.
Record expires on 04-Jun-2004.
Record created on 05-Jun-1997 >> Stay informed about: Domain Name Renewal Problem |

Usually you get a very short grace period, but they aren't obliged to give
you one.
Did you try just reregistering the domain name through their system?
Otherwise... it is Saturday... might have to wait until Monday to get a hold
of your registrar<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Domain Name Renewal Problem |

FWIW I...well...ahh..had a similar problem with out primary business domain,
Tucows as well...I had no trouble renewing the domain after it expired...I
had to call the hosting service we use for our primary, we registered our
domian through them and they were able to fix the problem..yeah, yeah, I
know....never register the domain name through the hosting company.
Take care of it first thing monday...

You are a jerk, a lazy bum, and I have no sympathy for you!!
Actually it's called being human. I have done it myself more than once.
If it only expired yesterday, you should be able to renew it easily enough.

Thanks Charles! I will also let my wife know that she need not call me names

Your registrar can have a grace period where they put the name on hold "pending
Delete'
During this period most registrars will allow you to renew the name in the normal
way (some may ask additional fees and others may not do it)
At the end of the Pending Delete period the Registrar will request the Registry
to delete the name BUT when they do there is an ICANN imposed 30 day Redemption
Grace Period where the name no longer works - but can be renewed by the
registrant. The registrar may impose an admin charge! After the 30 days there is
a 5 day period then the name becomes available to the first registrant who
applies.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Domain Name Renewal Problem |

My fault. I read "domain expired" and "e7domains". Generally, from the
experience I've had helping people with this combo of facts, the only way to
get the situation rectified is to get ahold of openSRS directly.

You are partially correct though as I did not transfer my domain to e7 in
the first place. If I still have no luck Monday with e7 I will contact
tucows/opensrs. Thanks for info.

My site is finally back up thanks to Tucows. They released it as soon as I
