Post subject: Domain ISP
Archived from groups: alt>freewebhosting (more info?)

Hi. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'd be
grateful for any pointers.

My current domain ISP (microworld.com) appears to have introduced some
filter that prevents e-mails from automated servers - including eBay
notifications - from reaching me. I contacted them ten days ago, and sent a
reminder three days ago, but - apart from an automated response - they
haven't replied.

Does anyone else use Microworld? And can anyone recommend an alternative
service that (a) provides decent customer service and (b) does not filter
out eBay notifications?

Thanks.

I'd call them your "hosting service" because domain registration and ISP
tend to be providing different services (just the registration, and just
access to the internet, with extras of mail + newsgroups, respectively).

You could consider the hosting from <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.affordablehost.com" target="_blank">www.affordablehost.com</a> which has a
free hosting account (as well as paid accounts) which may be suitable.

They certainly have good customer service (their staff are ready to answer
questions around 18 hours a day via IRC [use a Java-enabled browser] or
via e-mail). Hope that's a help... other groups like alt.paidwebhosting
or on servers like <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.webhostingtalk.com" target="_blank">www.webhostingtalk.com</a> (where there may be comments
about microworld.com perhaps?) Peter Morgan.

(I have an account at affordablehost.com but use other services too).<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I see. Thanks. Just to clarify, Microworld host my website, which is
registered with Register.com. It's Microworld who provide the qmail e-mail,
which is the thing that's causing me trouble.

OK, thanks. I'll look into it.

Well, that'll be a welcome change!

You've given me a lot to be getting on with; many thanks!
