What can be changed in the Metabase using Direct Metabase Edit that
will be picked up immediately on saving the file? So far the only
thing I have found that will actually work is changing the location of
a redirect for a resource. Is there a list somewhere of what changes
are actually supported in this way?

TIA,

Chandy

sure

Just note the comments about each possible value. If something is 'not
supported', MS has the policy of not documenting it or explicitely stating
that.

I am not aware of ever releasing documentation about whether a property
value change takes effect immediately, when the application pool recycles,
or when IIS restarts.

However, a general rule of thumb is that:
- site properties take effect immediately
- application pool properties require recycling the application pool
- global settings require restarting IIS

Though some global and application pool settings do take effect immediately
as well.
