Post subject: Desparate---IIS 5.1 Stopped Working!
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I am running WINXP Pro. Initially IIS did not work I re-
installed it and it worked. Then I installed .NET
framework and IIS stopped working. I uninstalled
the .NET framework (which I need to have re-installed)
and IIS is still not working.

I can ping my computer without difficulty.
The '*' that was located between my computer name and the
icon is no longer there. I have since uninstalled and
reinstalled IIS at least three to four times.

Looking at the wwwroot folder I also no longer see the
hand indicating a shared folder.

Assistance will be appreciated as I would like to get IIS
up and running along with reinstalling the .NET framework
so start learning ASP.NET.

Thank you.

Gail G.

Hi,

Could you please tell us what is not working with IIS? It is not starting?
It is not serving static files (html)? It is not serving dynamic files (asp,
aspx)?

Please uninstall IIS, reboot the computer, install IIS, reboot the computer,
and then try again. (please do this, so we know that the previous
uninstallation is not the cause of your troubles).
