I have the IIS 5.0 default document set to view the correct document (index.htm) and the box is checked. But when you enter just the directory for the intranet site \\server\dir it used to bring up the default document and now it doesn't. We have been trying to get another virtual web site to work since upgrading from 2000 pro to 2000 server and have been "playing with things" but are not certain what we changed to make it go from accessing the default document to doing a directory listing instead. It was working after the upgrade but has just recently stopped.

Are you accessing it as <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://server/dir" target="_blank">http://server/dir</a> or \\server\dir? There's a big
difference ...

Hello,

As Tom Kaminski has already told you, do you access the web page using http?

You might also want to take a look here:

Open IIS Manager.
Right click the Web Site, and click Properties.
Click the Documents tab.
Make sure that "Enable Default Document" is enabled, and that the document
is listed in the list.
