We are using IIS 5.0 on the dmz port of our firewall. Our
data via odbc (visual foxpro) is on the trusted side of
the firewall. We are unable to access our data . We get
an error "ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]Cannot open file"

Thanks,

Gary L. Anderson

You need to make sure that a lot of ports are open to make SMB work... Not a
very good scenario.. I can't offer you a solution, but it boils down to the
fact you can't open the backend file because you either didn't get to the
file, or you did and it failed to open...

My best step I can think of is figuring out which step you bottleneck'd
at... You can turn on auditing on the database file and monitor to see who
is attempting to access - is it the remote IIS server? If you don't see it
here, you don't have the appropriate SMB ports opened...

Also, you should be capable of testing the ODBC file... The easiest way to
do this is to create a test.udl file and double click on it... Set it up to
use the foxpro file, with the appropriate user setttings and location, and
then test - does it work? This tests that you can bust through the firewall
....

Not sure if I helped here or confused ya more, but hope it does...

Check your firewall logs to see what access was denied. This usually
is the issue, though you can check the internal server for permissions
as well.
