Post subject: [DBMSSOCN] General Network Error
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi,

I have 2 separate server boxes with one as a web server
running IIS 5.0 on Win2K and another with SQL Server on
Win2K as well.

I'm getting the following error sporadically.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)
[DBMSSOCN] General Network Error. Check your network
documentation.

The line where the error pointed to is when I open the
database connection to the sql server box.

The sql server box sits right next to the web server box
hooked up thru a switch. There the switch is connected to
a firewall and then go out. This is a colocation
environment.

The asp page works most of the time but would all of a
sudden come out with this error for a few minutes.
Usually in ten minutes the page will work again.

Recently, the frequency has increased drastically.

Please help.

Carlito.

Try here:
microsoft.public.inetserver.dbweb

Also, ensure you can ping the sql server while this is occurring.

Thank you. I hope this information is helpful.
