Post subject: Connection between Apache2 + Tomcat 4.1
Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

I've read and search the google but have no luck.

I got Apache 2, Tomcat 4.1, and Cocoon running on my Windows XP. Now, how do
I connect the Apache with Tomcat?

It seems there are a few solutions, namely mod_jk2 and mod_webapp.

Question:
1. Which one is the most used and supported?
2. where can I get the latest source and/or the binary for Windows or Linux?
3. How to install them? And what config file(s) I need to modify?

Thanks

I believe mod_jk is used most and supported most, but I could be wrong here

For this information, I recommend starting here:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.pubbitch.org/jboss/mod_jk2.html." target="_blank">http://www.pubbitch.org/jboss/mod_jk2.html.</a> If you get stuck after following
the steps outlined, post back here for some help.

Following the documentation for Apache-Tomcat connector is not an easy task,
well, may be just me(forgive me - I'm a novice).

So far I did manage to get Apache 2.0.46, Tomcat 5(Jun 29, 2003 build),
Cocoon-2.1m2(latest snapshot), and J2SDK1.4.2. Luckily I had no error
whatsoever compiling and running the above, EXCEPT that when running the
startup.bat to bring up Tomcat, it spewed some warning about some duplicated
in classpath.

Per Installation Documents, I seems to get those splash welcome page for the
Tomcat and Cocoon.

I tested almost every example at tomcat directories(JSP1.2, JSP2, and
Servlet examples), and they ran as expected.

When I ran cocoon, I got the "Welcome to Apache Cocoon!" . Cool eh..

Next is for me to go thru the example source code to get more familiar with
the XML - SOAP technology. I'm particularly drawn to the get-quote SOAP
example.

Does anyone aware if there are any book that explain all the detail(line by
line code review from start to finish) about some of the example,
particularly the get-quote one.

Next is that I'm still struggling to get Apache-Tomcat connector. HELP!
Thanks again.
