I am building a file achieve.

I know the most popular zip format is RAR, but I got some old .Z files which
can not be openned by WinRAR. The only windows based is PicoZip which has Z
option.

I want to know the difference between Z and RAR, which one is better.

Huh? No it's not. Use either PKZip format (.zip) or Gzipped tar files
(.tar.gz) -- both formats enjoy very wide levels of support.

i should say "most popular compress format" in file achieves. 99% of my
files which are downloaded from elsewhere are in RAR format. ZIP is more
popular in offline world. RAR has smaller size, so it says bandwidth.

Not in my experience. Totally unscientific survey:
http://www.googlefight.com/cgi-bin/compare.pl?q1=zip&q2=rar&langue=us

It also takes more processor time to decode and is less well supported.

Far more people have PKZip or Winzip or Infozip to decode .zip files than
have any RAR software -- Windows XP even has built-in zip support.

In *my* experience, and I think this is what Viper was muttering about,
RAR enjoys a much higher percentage of use among warez and appz
distributors. It's wrong to assume that "Wow" will be using the format
for this purpose, but saying that RAR is the "most popular compress
format" sure makes it tempting to guess what kinds of sites he/she is
always visiting...

Nope I am just a owner of a PPC Search site and a few other sites that
people always try to cheat. I am getting better each day at finding out how
they are cheating. I myself also use Adsense on a few sites and dont want
cheaters to ruin it for all of us that are making money the legal way.
