Hi,

I have just launched my online store, and I would appreciate feedbacks
and comments to help me improve. I designed the entire site myself,
even the shopping cart, as I need it customized to my needs. I am not
getting any traffic though, and would like to know how to do just
that.

Thanks in advance

Hey Jason,

What are you currently during to promote your site? There are so many
different things you can do. If your not you should definately be
looking into search engine submission. If you want to pay for
advertising you could create banners similar to your name thing and
purchase impressions on craft sites or somewhere where your audience
would be interested in having a graphic name. You should also get
involved in a few forums and use your graphic for the signature then
under it place a little hyperlink saying. "CLICK HERE for your very
own graphic name" or something along those lines.

If you have the time you might want to consider doing tutorials for
various websites and have them link back to your site in return.

I agree with Mr.Jason, you should try and focusing on marketing the
website. See who you r target markets are and try and find some web
pages that are relevant to this market. I think you re trying to cater
for the global market thu you should find sites like google, yahoo or
msn if you really want hits on your site. Its a good site and seems to
be quite robust. Though be ware that using too much green might not be
very accessible to people that are colour blind or so.
I really liek the name though especiallu the DOT bouncing.

These are just a couple of comments from my part, if you d like more
help tell me, I am often looking for some business around this
newsgroup, for people interested in software development or wed
designing, so I can see any messages that you leave here.

Please try:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://awstats.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/awstats.pl" target="_blank">http://awstats.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/awstats.pl</a>
this application facilitates any type of pattern research through your web
sites log files.

You have really covered all the basis on this return policy, payment
methods, contact page everything...that is important. You have followed all
"best practices"...T's crossed and I's dotted. You have truly done an
exceptional job.

Now is time to learn or pay for search engine optimization. try
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://selfpromotion.com" target="_blank">http://selfpromotion.com</a> The guy Robert there is pretty knowledgeable. And
he is personable. I am certain if you first read the site, or a good part
(it is extensive) and then engage him with a couple of good questions...he
will be forth coming on the necessary information.

You might give a couple special samples away...HINT, HINT... and include
your information in the splash or the wake of the graphic.

Last thing...check out <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.templatemonster.com" target="_blank">www.templatemonster.com</a> Notice when you buy a
templates you get several things for free...I am not certain if template
monster is the originator of the template repository, but when you buy a
template you get a free account with <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.ultravertex.com" target="_blank">www.ultravertex.com</a> in particular. If
you go to ultravertex.com it costs like $9, for what you get thrown in for
buying a template. Perhaps they will work a deal with for being able to
through in a free membership for a smaller lot of your site...perhaps access
to the B list of your products...if there is a B list...if not make a B list
for the cheap people, nickel and diming is not a crime.

Give me a couple of the search terms and I will run a ranking report for
you...that way you will have a set of control data for your later SEO
work...but definitely start with Robert, he is a nice guy...(he does not
know me...so name dropping won't work with him)

I agree with the others...submitting your site to search engines is a
good idea and good start. I'm unsure whether or not submitting to
pay-only directories is a good idea, however. Yahoo! offers this
service at $299 per year currently, but www.dmoz.org (Netscape's Open
Directory) offers this service for free. Best of all, Google indexes
these sites eventually. Also, Looksmart has something called "Zeal"
(www.zeal.com) that is pretty much a direct copy of dmoz.

The only downer about these human-based directories is that it seems
to take quite some time to actually have your submission listed. dmoz
says that it takes 2 weeks to several months to get listed; this is
probably rated to how popular a particular directory is and how active
editors are.

Hi everyone,

Just want to thank you all again for your valuable comments. It is
very encouraging for me to hear that I am in the right direction on my
site design. I have been reading up on www.selfpromotion.com on
search engine submission and will be seeking its founder, Roberts, for
advice soon. I am currently also creating some freely downloadable
animated greetings, animated quotes etc. This I feel will allow my
prospective customers to have more reasons to revisit my site. Its
not ready yet, but if you want a preview, see here:
http://www.mytinyname.com/freemain.cfm

Glasco, I have noted your hint and will be more than happy to give you
your very own animated name FREE. Just select the design you like and
use the "send to a friend" link to send me your request. Remember to
let me know your "desired name" for the animation. For all others
here who have commented above, I welcome your free request too. Just
my ways of saying thank you.

One last thing, I would like to get a feel of whether the prices for
my animation is reasonable. (Range $5.90 to $8.90) For your
information, each animations takes me about 1 hour to 2 hrs to
complete, depending on its complexity. Thanks again.

Best Regards,
JasonSG
