Hi Ivana,
I'm a non-programmer, and was able to learn enough CF in a couple of weeks
to add some database functionality to my client's web sites. It's said to be
the simplest of the server-side languages to learn; it's tag-based, like
HTML. But it's extremely powerful too.
In order to begin experimenting with it, you'll want to install CFMX server
on your local machine. The single-user version is free; it allows you to
test pages from only one IP address, so it's perfect for development
purposes. CFMX can be installed as a "standalone", using its own web server,
unlike earlier versions of CF Server, which required IIS, PWS, Apache, etc.
to be installed locally.
Good inexpensive CF hosting is now available. <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.CrystalTech.com" target="_blank">http://www.CrystalTech.com</a> is
a favorite; CF hosting is about $17/month with them, and they are known for
good support and an awesome control panel. There's also

super-excellent support.
Hope that helps!
