I've been mucking around with Apache for a while now but just serving
up static pages.

I'd like to develop a more dynamic site and therefore installed Cold
Fusion so I can incorporate database elements (SQL Server 2000) into
my site.

The problem however is that as soon as I install and start Cold
Fusion, I'm unable to start Apache 2.0.47 up again. It returns no
error.

I have had a similar experience once before when trying to start
Apache 2.0.47 while it was configured to listen to a Port untilised by
another web application.

Either any help in getting Cold Fusion set up would be greatly
appreciated or if anyone has any suggestions regarding an alternative
to Cold Fusion, I'd be keen to hear your comments.

Cheers

Look in the error_log file for apache. Probably they are trying
to use the same port (80).

Java (JSP/Servlet), PHP, CGI, they are all free and widely used.

Cheers for your thoughts Davide,

I was playing round a bit more last night and I've changed my mind
about the whole listen on the same port theory as Apache will still
not start again after installing CF even if all the CF services have
been stopped!???

Also, I have Apache listening on port 8000, not port 80 to avoid my
internet service providers firewall.

I'm beginning to think more and more that it's something to do with
the configuration of Apache, either in the one of the config files or
the integration on the CF-Apache DLL.

Am stumped for now! But thanks for your commants all the same.

Cheers

That's an easy test.
Use apachectl configtest, it will tell you if there are problems with
the configuration and where they are.
