Hi all,
I have a webserver which was working fine for a while now. Then yesterday I
started getting 401 errors and upon further investigation noticed that the
NTFS permissions for the anonymous IIS user was simply Deny Wirte.

I changed the permission on that directory to Read & Execute and things
seemed to work fine. Upon looking at the event logs and such I could'nt
igure out what happened. My question is:

1) I know when it started happening but I wanted to figure out how this
happened?

Thanks all.

One way to get 'deny' write is when you deploy
IIS Lockdown and enable 'such' option.
