Hi.

I have noticed a reasonably large amount of the following in my logs

61.170.230.91 - - [02/Dec/2003:09:42:35 +0800] "CONNECT smtp1.google.com:25
HTTP/1.0" 200 3505 "-" "-" 0 www.mydomain.com.au

Any suggestions to what is happening here? How do I stop it?

thanks,
Cliff.

Someone is trying to use your apache as an open proxy to send e-mail.
Check if that is forbidden and report the problem to the ISP of the
offender.

OK. Seems that they are successful, then (code 200). Is Apache configurable
to stop this from being possible?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

The code 200 means only that they received a response, try it for
yourself.

The CONNECT instruction is available only if you have mod_proxy
enabled. Check your configuration.
