Advice Needed :- I'm wanting to purchase some webspace thats suitable for
the eccomerce package X-Cart (www.x-cart.com) I'm Based in the U.K

They have sent me various information telling me what they will need to do
to be able to set up the cart software on the webspace.

Can anyone reccomend a suitable webspace seller that provides and can
forefill the needs of the xcart team below i have detailed there requests.

----------------------------
"In case of INSTANT package we can install X-Cart, PayPal (and required
system software like PHP, Perl, MySQL, CURL, etc if you provide us with
root/administrator access rights)."

"Our techs would need the following information if you purchase INSTANT
package:
1. HTTP URL to your store
2. FTP URL to load files
3. FTP username & password
4. MySQL hostname
5. MySQL username & password
6. MySQL database name"
----------------------------------

Are all these functions pretty much standard , i know 1,2 & 3 are but unsure
about 4,5 & 6.

also what should it cost me for a 12 month contract.

Feedback welcome.

Best Regards

P

You host will provide them - they are the way in which a set of
scripts connects to the underlying database. You need to ask your
host to provide them.

I'd suggest taking a look at OsCommerce (http://www.oscommerce.org/)
because at first look, it doesn't appear tha X-Cart offers anything at
$185 that OsCommerce doesn't offer for FREE.

Either way, if you're in need of a MySQL/PHP hosting solution, we
might be able to help - solutions with OsCommerce installed FOR FREE
can be found at:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.aaabusinesshosting.com/oscommerce_hosting" target="_blank">http://www.aaabusinesshosting.com/oscommerce_hosting</a>

Even if you don't decide that oscommerce works for you, X-Cart
shouldn't be a problem at all on our servers - you can be setup
before the day is out.

I missed the cost - with us it would be $12.50 a month, or $150 a year
- NTL migth mean you're in the UK, right? That's less than 100 GBP
per year (incidently, I'm a Brit living in the USA at the moment - we
have many UK customers - most running Actinic e-commerce solutions).
