Greetings one and all

Couldn't find the relevant part of the previous (multiheaded) thread, so
.....

A survey from the Department of Trade and Industry revealed that 68 per cent
of large companies were infected by viruses during 2003, despite the fact
that 99 per cent were using antivirus products.

Once upon a time, in a far away galaxy. Sorry, wrong film.

Once upon a time a private investigator happened to get in with a
group of international virus writers, hackers and phreakers, quite by
chance. This investigator was not in the least surprised to be
reliably informed and to see evidence, that some well known British AV
companies were actively involved in the distribution and manufacture
of computer viruses.

Nor was this investigator surprised to see how easy it is to produce
virus variants that avoid detection by AV products. Indeed "The Black
Baron" took just 30 minutes from the public announcement by Alan
Solomon that he could detect the new version of Smeg to produce a new
version 3 which avoided detection - though wether or not he had prior
warning of the detection is questionable, he was tipped off about the
police investigation into him.

The moral of this yarn, should you still be awake, is that AV products
can instill a false sense of security in the naive. Prevention is the
better course of action, don't accept attachments or pirated software
for example.

Hi Mir. Hope you had a pleasant weekend.

Correct, other than having a sweep from time to time. Even I do that
because I enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling I get when it tells me my system is
clean, always does.

There's an error on line 175 on ford.co.uk : <td

Weekend was sucky. And I dont work for Ford any more, so I dont much care.

So you never ever place CDs, DVDs or anything into your machine? You never
use the Internet? Regardless of how often some AV software gives false
possitives, it does catch most vi.... okay I just decided I cant be arse
with this argument.

So, what's new over in Glasgow? Was a beautiful day today. Has all the
windows rolled open in our studio today. Sat in the window alcove over
looking Leith docks while cutting out designs for my portfolio. Was really
relaxing!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Get you!! Bloody designers, even sitting on your arse is artistic!

It was very nice here too. Went to the bank, popped in some US Dollars
(thank you customers).

Went back to the house. Because the sun was shining I was trying to think
of a way to avoid going back, and sitting in all day as I eventually did.
Nothing much to do really, if it was warm I might have gone for a cycle.

Instead I went home and did some super-duper PHP stuff. When I first wrote
my site <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://sellyourhouseforfree.com" target="_blank">http://sellyourhouseforfree.com</a> I used an include file for the
header: title, meta tags, nav links. All in one file. The way I made it, I
was using the same title and meta tags for each page. This meant I had 500
pages on Google (and elsewhere) with the same title and meta tags, although
the content was different. Not an ideal situation.

I now have the title and meta tags as variables. For internal pages etc, I
have default values, but my real coup was making variable titles for the
house listings, nearly 500 of them.

When a listing is displayed, it pulls all the info from the database, so I
used some of this info for the title and meta tags. The title is address
line 1, region, and country. The meta description is the lister's brief
description of their house for sale. The keywords are the two combined.
Bloody sweet!

It wasn't too difficult to do, just hadn't got round to it before. I now
have 500 pages with highly relevant titles and metas, great for Google,
useful for surfers too. When you look at the history you see the addresses
of the houses you viewed, handy for clicking back on.

Looking forward to Google visiting again, see if it makes any difference to
my visitors from there!
