I have a problem with IIS: it perfectly displays .html pages but when it
comes to .asp it gives me a HTTP - 500 internal server error.
How can i fix this??
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

This looks like an error with the IWAM account, check your system event log
and see what errors are there. You are probably getting one for DCOM and
W3SVC. You can run synciwam.vbs, which is located in your
inetpub\adminscripts folder. If you get an error running this file, please
take a look at the following KB article: 269367 Synciwam Utility Does Not
Function and Generates Error 80110414
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=269367

Hope this helps!

Well, got a bit of a situation there:
If i go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools i can't access any of the
shortcuts: Component Services, Data Sources, Internet Information Services,
Performance, Services, Computer Management, Even Viewer, Local Security
Policy and Server Extension Administrator.
If i try to open any of them I get the message: Windows cannot open this
file: filename.msc and then it gives me the option of use the web to look
for the program to open it or choose it from a list.
So.. the only way i'm able to use iis at the moment is just
Strart/Run/inetmgr.
IIS is installed from my XP Professional CD-ROM but if i go to Control
Panel/AddorRemove Programs/AddorRemove Windows Components iis is in a grey
box which means that not all components can be installed successfully.
I really don't know what else to do and i really need to have iis working on
my machine...
Please, help!!

Ileana

In Internet Explorer, goto Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced and uncheck
"Show Friendly HTTP Errors" and reload the page. Post the full description
that you now see to the group.

Cheers

Um, did you do what the error message tells you to do - look in the Event
Log?

Cheers
