Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi,

We run a shared server with roughly 200 domains, and have recently been
having problems with the ASP engine siezing and not accepting anymore
connections 'Too many connections'. Static pages are served fine.

Thing is there are no clues as to why this is happening. There are no log
entries around the times this keeps happening. The server can freeze a day
after IIS being reset or 10 days, but this has happened 4 - 5 times over the
last month, and I hate having to get up in the middle of the night to reset
it!

Anybody know a way of finding out what the cause is to enable me to fix the
problem?

thanks

Mark

Try running IISSTATE the next time it happens. Then post
the log file to the group.

What is the OS? When this happens what does the performance monitor show for=
Total Anonymous Connections?

What are the hardware specs in the server? Memory, processor? When this=
happens what does inetinfo.exe (if iis50) show as far as memory and CPU%?

Are the asp sites in low process or medium pooled (if iis50)? You may want=
to try placing them in a different memory pool.

Knowing what the specs of your server are could help us help you.

I have a program called webpagechecker that will test your asp pages at=
defined intervals if not running you can have the program run iisstate.
