Post subject: ADO and IIS Application Protection level
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I have an isapi application connecting to Oracle via ADO that works fine on
my Win2000 workstation.

But when I move the isapi dll to the production server (XP Terminal Server),
the dll will only run if the Application Protection level is set to low. If
the Application Protection level is set to medium or high, then the server
never responds, and the process hangs when ADO attempts to connect to the
db. (Problem occurs using the Microsoft Oracle drivers, and the Oracle
Oracle drivers.)

I need to have the Application Protection level set to medium or high. If
I directly call the Oracle API to do the database access instead of ADO to
access the database, everything works regardless of the Application
Protection level. So the problem has something to do with starting ADO in
the isapi dll, maybe some sort of permissions?

I would like to stick with ADO for some of the features like producing xml.
Anyone have any ideas why I cannot run ADO when the Application Protection
level is set to medium or high?
