500: Server Error [%s]

We have two webservers win2003/IIS6 load balanced. Our IIS servers get
to 500:Server Error[%s] often. and when this happens none of the pages
in the IIS is available, and i have to restart the IIS to get things
working again. The frequency of this problem is huge, i have to do
atleast 20 restarts a day. Any idea why this happening to our IIS
servers, the IIS logs is not very helpful in this situation. Any
solutions to fix this, is highly appreciated.

I have a question for you. I'm currently facing a similar issue.

In fact our users get exactly the same error message (500: Server Error [%s])
..

In our architecture we got some IIS Servers, and also Coldfusion application
servers, firewalls, Siteminder authentication, etc.

I'm trying to identify the box that could throw this message. Did you find
out the root cause of your problem ? if yes do you have any of the specifics
above (firewall, Siteminder, Coldfusion) in your architecture ?
