Sorry if this has been asked before but I keep getting this message:

# apachectl startssl
Syntax error on line 258 of /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_ssl.so into server: /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_ssl.so: undefined symbol:
X509_free

My apache2 configure:

../configure --enable-mods-shared=all --enable-ssl --with-ssl=/usr/local --with-mpm=prefork

What clue do I need to make it work?

I've built the certificates, key, all that jazz but am clueless on what the error means.

My OpenSSL install was just "./config" without any options.

Your libraries are in the wrong place or need to be recompiled, NOTE:
OpenSSL DOESN'T BUILD SHARED LIBRARIES if you don't tell it to.

Thanks!

It is extremely unlikely that I would accept any further assistance from people that insult me right off the bat.

But I do appreciate your help!

I 'personally' don't see the reply as an insult, you asked for 'What =
clue'...... and was answered
