Post subject: 3rd party billing / IPSP / credit card processors: advice wanted.
Archived from groups: alt>www>webmaster (more info?)

Hi,

we're setting up a site selling video content and we're looking
for an Internet Payment Service Provider. Our own merchant
account is (apparently) not an option.

We were all set to use Verotel (www.verotel.com) but it seems
they insist on installing a user management script on our server.

We don't want this: all we want is to feed the CC details into
somebody's system and get accepted / declined back in return.
And of course, most of the money.

So I'm currently looking at the following:
PSWbilling
CCBill
Paycom
Netbilling

Any tips? NB the nature of the video content means that some
payment providers don't want to know. NBB It *is* legal.

Thanks
JD.

Echo was reasonable but they only serve US based business.

ECHO has a VERY low tolerance for chargebacks. Its been a few years since
we used them, but they also didn't have very good fraud measures in place.

Good! I wish more merchants were like that (minus the no fraud
measures) then maybe businesses would actually verify orders before
charging someones credit card.

You should be able to go through Verotel without them having to install a
cgi script on your site. That cgi script is just for member/pay sites. I
have heard stories that Verotel might go by the way side. I use them as a
backup processor right now. Netbilling is not a 3rd party processor, so you
need to use your merchant account with them and I would use them over the
others. CCBill would be the best for a 3rd party processor.
